- Acrobat FDF/PDF file issues
Problems
with the "View and Print" button?
When you are trying to view or print your Entry Form using the "View
and Print" button, and the Entry Form appears blank or not
completely filled in, then your computers has issues with .FDF (Forms
Document File) files.
To solve the problem, you can correct your Acrobat
File Associations on your computer (see details below) or you
can simply use the "Download/Save" button and open of
the Entry Form outside of your internet browser.
But first make sure that your computer works with .PDF (Portable
Document File) files. Please try the "Download/Save" button:
| Using
the Download/Save Button |
Go to the "Entry Detail" page for your entry. There are
two ways to get there:
- Create
a Mail-In Entry
The "Entry Detail" page will appear after clicking
the "Mail-In Entry" button on the Trial Entry page.
(In 2003, our site used to go directly to the .FDF file, but now
you get sent to the "Entry Detail" page where you can
review your entry before loading Acrobat Reader.)
- Through
your My Account Section

From Dog's Information
Click the Login button, then click on "My Account"
in the menu bar at the top of the website. On your My Account
page, click on your dog's name, then find the entry listed under
Upcoming Entries. Click on the link listed in your entry called
"View Entry Details." This will load the Entry Detail
page.
From
My Event Entries
Click the Login button, then click on "My Account"
in the menu bar at the top of the website. On your My Account
page, click on "My Personal Event Calendar", then click
on the trial you are looking for. On the "My Event Entries"
page, you'll see all the entries you've created for all your dogs.
On the desired entry, click on the link called "View Entry
Details." This will load the Entry Detail page.
On
the Entry Detail page, you'll see two buttons in the top-right corner
of the page, "View and Print" or "Download/Save":

If View and Print does not work
on your computer, then try Download/Save.
See details below...

Click
the "Download/Save" button, and you will then be asked
where you'd like to save your file. It is easiest to save the file
to your Desktop, or in a folder that you designate.
When
the PDF file is finished downloaded, you may be prompted by your
computer to open the file. If not, then minimize your internet browser
window, and then find the icon for the PDF you just downloaded (either
on your Desktop or in your designated Folder) and open it.
The
PDF file should launch Adobe Acrobat Reader, and the Entry Form
should load successfully. Then you can print the entry directly
from with Acrobat.
If
Acrobat is not working outside of your internet browser, see our
Acrobat Install help page.
If
you'd like to be able to use the "View and Print" button
instead of having to download your entry each time you need to print
a copy, then please follow the steps below:

Your Acrobat File Associations |
The
solution to the problem is to "fix" the FDF file associations
on your computer. The following process has worked on all computers
that we have encountered which could not load the .FDF file
properly, and will most likely work for you.
Setup FDF file associations on your computer - Printable
Version
- On your desktop, double-click on the My
Computer icon.
- At the top of the window that opens up, click on View
then Folder
Options.
(For newer systems, click on Tools
then Folder
Options)
- Select the File
Types tab at the top of the new window and
scroll down to Adobe
Acrobat Forms Document and select it.
- Click Edit.
- In the next window, click the word Open
in the Actions text box and then click Edit.
- A new window will pop up. (Editing
Action For Type)
- In the bottom
box of that window, add a space after the existing
path to Acrobat Reader and add this command to the end of
the path: "%1" (Include the quotation marks)
Ex: "C:\Program Files\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe"
"%1"
- Click OK
- Click OK on any remaining windows and
close your My Computer Window.
Your computer should now be ready to handle Adobe Forms Documents.
*NOTE: If you are still not able to view your PDF/FDF, please try the steps below to turn off the DDE setting for PDF/FDF.
- Follow steps 1-5 above to get to the associated file type.
- A new window will pop up. (Editing Action For Type) -
(Notice the DDE Checkbox) - If it is checked, Uncheck it.
- Click OK
- Click OK on any remaining windows and
close your My Computer Window.
Your computer should now be ready to handle Adobe Forms Documents.
